Beatles in Church — Lind Kirke, Herning

The concert narrative 'Beatles in Church' draws on February 1968, when The Beatles traveled to India - not to perform concerts, but to meditate and learn from guru Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. The interest in spirituality and life's big questions drove especially John Lennon and George Harrison, but all four brought something home with them, and the stay sparked one of the band's most productive periods as songwriters.

The repertoire includes songs that directly emerged from the India stay: George Harrison's 'While My Guitar Gently Weeps', Paul McCartney's 'Mother Nature's Son', Ringo Starr's 'Don't Pass Me By' and John Lennon's 'Jealous Guy' - originally titled 'Child of Nature'. Also featured is 'Across The Universe' (Lennon/McCartney), which with the line 'Jai Guru Deva' honors the Indian guru. The programme also contains songs from other periods, including 'In My Life', 'Eleanor Rigby', 'Dr. Robert' and 'Can't Buy Me Love', as well as solo songs such as McCartney's 'My Valentine' (2012) and Lennon's 'Grow Old With Me' (1980).

Behind the production stands the same quartet that in recent years has toured with concert narratives about Johnny Cash and Leonard Cohen: Karsten Holm (vocals, guitar), Bjørn 'Bønne' Petersen (bass, vocals), Knud Erik 'Fuddi' Steengaard (violin, viola, mandolin, vocals) and Martin Blom (guitar, vocals).
