8. Aalborg International Guitar Competition Category II

Category II of the 8th Aalborg International Guitar Competition takes place at Skipper Clement Skolen on 21 November 2026 from 16:00 to 17:30. The competition is open to classical guitarists from all countries, but only amateurs aged 13-20 can participate. A minimum of 5 entries is required for the competition to proceed. Maximum performance time is 8 minutes - the clock starts when the participant sits down. Repertoire is free choice, and sheet music may be used on stage. Entry fee is 250 kr. (33 €), which also includes free admission to the Category I final the same evening at 20:00. A combined ticket with the Talent Class Weekend costs 850 kr. (115 €).

Prizes in Category II are: 1st prize - a handmade guitar from Aiersi Guitars valued at 1,800 € (https://www.aiersiguitar.com/) plus Guitarlift Diploma and guitar accessories from Savarez and D'Addario. 2nd prize - 200 € bank transfer plus Guitarlift Diploma and guitar accessories from Savarez and D'Addario. 3rd prize - 100 € bank transfer plus Guitarlift Diploma and guitar accessories from Savarez and D'Addario. All participants who take part in the talent seminar or masterclass and attend the participant concert and prize ceremony on 24 November at Skipper Clement Skolen receive a diploma.

The jury is led by Anders Clemens Øien (Norway/Spain) and also includes Flavius Wagner (Germany) and Manuel Toucinho (Portugal). The jury's decision is final. The order of performances is determined by draw the evening before and communicated to participants by email. Cancellations before 1 October 2026 receive a 50% refund; cancellations after this date receive no refund. Aalborg International Guitar Festival & Competition reserves the right to record and distribute audio, images, and video from the competition without compensation to participants.
