Quotations from Ice

What climate stories are hidden in the deep inland ice? The exhibition "Quotes from the Ice" explores ice cores, where the climate of the past is preserved layer by layer. Under polarized light, the ice's crystals transform into a play of colors, where patterns and directions reveal the movement of the ice sheet - and microscopic formations are magnified into large images that bring science and aesthetics together.

The exhibition provides insight into researchers' methods and the stories the ice sheet carries about the connections between past climate and our shared future.

"Quotes from the Ice" was created by Visual Science Studio in collaboration with the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, Prof. Dorthe Dahl-Jensen, Associate Professor Anders Svensson, and their research team from the Center for Ice, Climate and Geophysics. The exhibition is supported by the Carlsberg Foundation.
