Weaving Consortium Exhibition: Fibres in Form
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · Free
The Weaving Consortium consists of 12 weavers who all work from a single square piece of fabric - without scissors and with minimal sewing. By avoiding cutting, they are forced to shape and construct the garments directly on the loom, so each decision along the way has a direct impact on the finished result.
The exhibition showcases clothing where form emerges from the interplay between material and technique. Textile designer Mia Lehtonen has served as the consortium's inspiration.
The consortium was formed in 2016 by weavers who completed the Guild's Weaving Courses' professional modules in shaft weaving, and is celebrating its 10-year anniversary this year.
