Debut Fest: Mango On Ice
Kildevæld Kulturcenter, Copenhagen · Free
The film follows Valena on the evening of her 18th birthday. It starts at a kiosk and ends in a colorful bar in the provinces, where under the VIP sign she doesn't find her own friends, but instead meets Sika and Rikke. The reserved Val catches the two girls' interest with her vape, and they decide to spend the evening together.
At first glance, the friend duo seems more bubbly than Valena - but there's more beneath the surface. When Rikke and Sika disappear to the bathroom for some extra fun, a police officer enters for a routine check. Val suddenly faces a dilemma: lie to the officer or betray her new friends?
The film explores friendship in the transition from teenager to adult - from inseparable to too busy to see each other - and raises questions that extend beyond the present: How much can we really expect of each other? And when are you truly friends?
Behind the film stands a young, independent film crew. It is supported by Odense Filmværksted, and the script was written as an assignment in Dramaturgy at the Film Production Management programme.
