Dramatic Reading Club

BaggårdTeatret and Svendborg Bibliotek present a dramatic reading club running over three sessions. Participants read excerpts aloud, take on roles, and discuss texts together with a facilitator each time. The project builds on the Royal Library's work to digitalize and bring classical and contemporary texts to the fore.

No prior experience or homework is required-only curiosity about drama. Participation is free, but registration is mandatory and binding for all three dates.

Session 1 - November 11, 2026, 4:00 PM-6:00 PM at BaggårdTeatret.
Introduction to the reading club and reading from a contemporary Danish play with playwright Jannie Schjødt Kold. We read excerpts and discuss the craft of writing for the stage.

Session 2 - January 6, 2027, 4:00 PM-6:00 PM at Svendborg Bibliotek.
We read a Danish dramatic classic and explore why certain theatre texts endure and continue to be performed.

Session 3 - February 17, 2027, 4:00 PM-6:00 PM at BaggårdTeatret.
We read a play chosen by the group from a curated list and wrap up the series.
