Sophienholm Kunsthal occupies a listed country mansion from 1768, designed by French architect Joseph Ramée on the shore of Bagsværd Sø north of Copenhagen. The gallery runs changing exhibitions of contemporary and art-historical themes throughout the year, with concerts and theatre performances in the park during summer. The venue traces its roots to the Danish Golden Age, when artists, composers and scientists gathered at the celebrated Sophienholm Salons. Lyngby Kunstforening and Lyngby-Taarbæk Billedskoler are also based here.
