Culture & Cocktail - Flyversjus

Alcohol is far more than just a drink. This edition of Culture & Cocktail explores the many roles of spirits - from the conservator's workshop to drinking culture in literature and beer's place in Danish art.

Museum Østjylland's conservator Carsten Korthauer discusses alcohol's importance in preserving cultural heritage. Martin Minka from Randers Library examines drinking and working-class life in literature, using examples such as Ludvig Holberg's "Jeppe på Bjerget". Julie Margrethe Nyrup from Randers Art Museum presents the part of the museum's collection that can be described as 'beer art'.

Today's cocktail is a classic flyversjus - simple but strong, with historical and social undertones. Served both with and without alcohol.

The event takes place at Biografen, Museum Østjylland, and is arranged in collaboration with Museum Østjylland and Randers Library.
