Film Reading Club: 'Nøjsomheden' by Stine Askov (Kolding) — Kolding Bibliotek, Kolding

The Kolding Libraries organize the Film Reading Club, where participants read a book adaptation and meet to discuss it before watching the film together at Nicolai Biograf.

This time the book is 'Nøjsomheden' by Stine Askov - a love story about two young people from very different backgrounds, combining humor with themes of social conditions, inequality, mental illness, and grief. A central question in the novel is how upbringing and family shape children.

The film follows Mona, a young woman without formal education from the housing estate Nøjsomheden in Helsingør, who falls in love with Nikolaj from an affluent neighborhood on the other side of town. Meanwhile, she tries to get her drug-dealing uncle Frederik to visit his mother, Mona's beloved Aunt Tut, who is dying. The film is directed by Hella Joof from a screenplay by Bo hr. Hansen, with Iben Hjejle, Andrea Heick Gadeberg, Clint Ruben, and Maria Rossing in the lead roles. Duration: approximately 1 hour and 50 minutes.

When buying tickets, you can choose a physical book, bring your own copy, or read/listen via e.g. e-Reolen. The event takes place in the Small Hall.
