Herning Opera Festival launches a new three-year journey through Schubert's song cycle Die schöne Müllerin. The concert takes place in Prismesal at the Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelts Museum, with Peter Lodahl singing the role of the young miller's apprentice.

About the venue: CHPEA Museum

Carl-Henning Pedersen & Else Alfelt Museum (CHPEA) opened in 1976 in Birk Centerpark, east of Herning, and holds more than 6,000 works - paintings, watercolours, sculptures and mosaics - by the CoBrA artists Carl-Henning Pedersen and Else Alfelt. The circular original building, designed by C.F. Møller, is surrounded by a moat and clad in ceramic tiles populated with fantastical figures. In 2015 an underground corridor was added, connecting the museum to the Angli courtyard where Pedersen's monumental frieze "The Play of Imagination around the Wheel of Life" is on display. Alongside the permanent collection, the museum hosts temporary exhibitions, lectures, concerts and children's activities.

Born in Herning, Peter Lodahl ranks among the most versatile Danish tenors of his generation, with a career stretching from major Italian opera roles to German art song and symphonic repertoire on stages across Europe and the Americas. His honours include the Knight's Cross of the Order of Dannebrog, the Aksel Schiötz Prize, and OPUS Klassik nominations in 2020.
