Greenland in the Great Power Game: Crisis, Power and New Opportunities

Few topics dominate Danish foreign policy right now more than Greenland. Pressure from the American presidency on Denmark and Greenland has triggered what is described as the most serious diplomatic crisis between the two countries since World War II - and on the Greenlandic side, the debate about independence has intensified, while trust in the USA has weakened.

Martin Breum, journalist and author, has followed the Arctic and Greenland for many years. He has previously hosted DR2's Deadline and the podcast Koldfronten - the struggle for Greenland and the Arctic, and he has written several books on the subject. In the lecture, he analyzes the underlying layers of the crisis: the great powers' interests in the Arctic, what the pressure means for the relationship between Denmark and Greenland, and whether the situation has actually strengthened Greenland's political position.
