The Ocean's Archives - Life, Weather and Climate

Ship logs from the 17th to 19th centuries are now accessible with just a few clicks and contain several hundred years of accounts from the sea. The handwritten records cover daily life aboard ship as well as detailed observations of weather, storms and climate - and researchers today use them to map the climate of the past and understand future climate change.

Archivist Adam Jon Kronegh from the Danish National Archives tells the story of these ship logs and shows how you can search through them yourself. Kronegh works with historical archives, source materials and the presentation of Denmark's cultural heritage - including genealogy and historical documents - and is also known from the television programme "The Lost Heirs".
