Morning Lecture: Horsens and Vor Frelsers Church during World War II
Wed, 16 Sep 2026 · 10:00 — 12:00
Horsens Bibliotek, Horsens · Free
Free entry
In connection with Vor Frelsers Church's 800th anniversary, historian Mogens Rasmussen has researched archives and attics to map the church's role during the five years of occupation. The church was the only gathering place not subject to assembly restrictions, and thus took on a special function in the town's life.
The lecture covers the king's and bishop's visits, the presence of German soldiers at services and funerals, official proclamations and police notices - as well as resistance fighters who hid in the church tower. Knud Salling accompanies the lecture with a trumpet solo.
Coffee and cake are served, and you are welcome to bring your own cup.
