Literature Days 2026 Day 1: A Dinner Invitation

Two days of lectures and conversations in the spirit of folk high school tradition - this is the framework for Literature Days 2026 at Horsens Library. The first day revolves around the theme "A Dinner Invitation", drawing connections to food, drink, and gathering around a table.

The day takes place in the Hall and begins at 9:30 with rolls and coffee. At 10:00 there is a welcome, group singing, and introduction to the day's theme, followed by a lecture at 10:30 by Casper Thrane, lecturer at Risskov Gymnasium, on the significance of meals and taste experiences in literature. At 11:30 there is book inspiration about food and drink in literature, and at 12:15 a harvest festival with food and festive entertainment is held.

The afternoon offers community with fresh air and conversation at 13:30, a presentation from Horsens Art Museum at 14:00 about who is actually invited to lunch, and at 14:45 a close reading of food as a theme in Linea Maja Ernst's novel "Only Up to the Navel" combined with cake and book inspiration. The day ends at 15:15.
