Come and Join the Hay Harvest at Trappebæksengen
The hay harvest at Trappebæksengen starts at 15:30 at Trappebæksvej 78 and ends around 19:30. There are scythes for both children and adults, and beginners can receive instruction in scythe-cutting - you are also welcome to bring your own scythe. Pizza and refreshments are served during the event.
The event is organized by Christina Åkerman from the Danish Nature Conservation Association Svendborg and environmental technician Arne Bruun from Svendborg Municipality. Eleven years ago, they initiated the hay harvest because there were only 5-6 examples of lady's slipper orchids on the meadow at that time. Since then, the population has grown year by year, and this year Arne Bruun counted 564 flowering lady's slipper orchids - over 100 more than the record from 2024.
You can come and go as it suits you. Feel free to contact the organizers if you want to participate or have questions - it is nice to have a sense of the number of participants, but registration is not required.
