Æbelholt Monastery lies just outside Hillerød and offers natural areas, a monastery garden, and a small museum with over 100 skeletons - each with its own story of illness, medicine, life and death in the Middle Ages.

The monastery was once Northern Europe's largest Augustinian monastery, and people travelled here to be healed, to give birth - or to die.
