Nature conservation at an ancient burial mound - join us!
Nature conservation at an ancient burial mound: Saturday 24 October 2026, 13:00, Ringsted.
About a dozen ancient monuments in Ringsted Municipality need maintenance, and on Saturday, October 24, 2026 at 1 p.m., you can help. Meet at Allindemaglevej by the sign marking the ancient monument - it is located between numbers 35 and 41. Bring drinks, work gloves, and ideally a rake. Parking is available along the roadside.
Five hundred meters south in the field stands a long barrow from the Stone Age: 30 meters long, 10 meters wide, and 2 meters high, with two chambers without capstones - only the supporting stones remain. To the south there is a large fox burrow. This is the barrow that needs maintenance.
Jon Feilberg, who has participated in maintaining the municipality's ancient monuments since 2008, will talk about the work and the importance of these monuments for biodiversity in the area. A large area on the mound has already been cleared, so the raking work can begin immediately. Bushes, small trees, and tall plants are raked together and burned outside the mound itself.
