Open Sewing Lab
Hovedbiblioteket, Aarhus · Free
Most Wednesdays the Sewing Lab at Hovedbiblioteket is open from 3pm to 7pm, except during school holidays and bank holidays. Check the website before visiting, as the schedule can change. To complete a sewing project, aim to arrive by 6pm - tidying up begins at 6.45pm.
The lab is a space for repairing or reworking clothes, as well as personal sewing projects. Sustainability is central to the space, and recycled and donated materials are available for anyone to use. Around ten sewing machines and two sergers are available, and helping each other is part of the culture. New users can get a brief introduction to the machines, but you should be able to operate them safely on your own.
No registration is required and entry is free. The lab welcomes adults and young people aged 12 and up, but is not suitable for groups larger than ten. Questions or ideas can be sent to Astrid at asrij@aarhus.dk.
You'll find the Sewing Lab in Verdensrummet on the ground floor (level 0), under the stairs by the café.
