A World in Amber - lecture: Tuesday 10 November 2026, 19:30, Gram Højskole, Gram. Admission is free.
Everyone in Denmark knows amber, but few understand the crucial role it plays in our understanding of life and Earth's evolution. Amber acts almost like a portal back in time: inside the stone lies a moment from Earth's distant past frozen in 3D.
The hunt for "the gold of the north" is more popular than ever. This lecture offers a vivid and nuanced insight into why this material is so fascinating - what secrets amber holds, and how you can find it yourself.
Throughout the talk, there will be plenty of opportunity to see and touch amber in many colours and forms, including rare pieces and unique specimens normally found only in museums.
