USA at a Crossroads

USA at a Crossroads - lecture: Thursday 29 October 2026, 15:00–17:00, Kirstinelund, Lystrup. Admission is free.

USA at a Crossroads - midterm elections, power and Donald Trump's political scope

On November 3rd, Americans go to the polls for midterm elections, and the result will determine the balance of power in Congress, the President's room for action, and the direction the USA is heading. On Thursday, October 29th, five days before the election, USA expert Anne Mørk will be here to give an overview of political America: what Americans actually need to decide on, which issues dominate the election campaign, and what it means if Trump faces headwinds or opposition in Congress.

The lecture will cover, among other things, the power dynamics in Washington and how the election can shift the balance between President and Congress, the political and economic issues that concern American voters right now, and what opportunities and limitations Trump may face over the next two years. The discussion will also look at what developments could mean for Europe, Danish business, security policy, and relations with the USA. The afternoon is set up for questions throughout - you don't need to be an expert in American politics to participate, just curious about what's happening in the USA and why it matters to us here at home.
