Children's New Year's Address - student voices: Friday 20 November 2026, 09:00–12:00, Biblioteket i Herning, Herning.

Students from grades 5 and 6 at Tjørring School take the stage at Herning Library to deliver their own New Year's addresses. The event takes place in the Platformen hall and is a morning programme.

Throughout the autumn, the classes have participated in UNICEF Denmark's Children's New Year's Address project. The students have written about what matters most to them, explored children's rights, and practised arguing and communicating their ideas. They have put words to their hopes, frustrations, dreams, and visions for the future.

At today's event, the children speak to parents, grandparents, local media, decision-makers, and other adults who want to hear how children see the world. The focus is on children's freedom of expression and democratic participation, and on the idea that good ideas can come from all ages. The aim is not to find the right answers, but to give space to children's own thoughts about the world they are part of.

Children's New Year's Address was developed by UNICEF Denmark to strengthen children's voices in democratic dialogue. One address from children and young people will be selected and broadcast on DR as part of the lead-up to the King's New Year's Address on New Year's Eve.
