At Table with Babette and Blixen

Author Signe Wulff explores how Karen Blixen drew on her father's literary work, world literature, and her own memories, weaving them together into a narrative steeped in gastronomic cultural history.

The lecture takes us down the boulevards of Paris in the late 1800s, where revolutionary women sit at table during the century's most lavish dinners - and we meet the 12 well-fed members of the Great Eaters' Club. Wulff also offers her perspective on why Blixen might have had a word or two with Gabriel Axel about his interpretation of the menu in the film adaptation of Babette's Feast.

Signe Wulff is the author of the acclaimed biography "In the Kitchen with Karen Blixen", which brings much new knowledge about Blixen's relationship with food.

The lecture is a prelude to the production "Babette's Feast" on Teater Lillebælt's repertoire on Saturday, October 31st. The event takes place in the Library Hall and is arranged in collaboration with Teater Lillebælt.
