The biographical film Hilma tells the story of Swedish painter Hilma af Klint (1862-1944), today recognized as one of the first abstract artists in the West and a feminist icon.

Behind the camera is Swedish director Lasse Hallström, who follows her life and groundbreaking artistic work in an era when men made the rules.

About the venue: Nivaagaards Malerisamling

Nivaagaards Malerisamling is an art museum next to Nivågård, founded when landowner Johannes Hage transferred his private collection to the public as an independent institution in 1908. The permanent collection covers the Italian and Northern European Renaissance, Dutch Baroque and the Danish Golden Age, and the museum has gained international recognition for its holdings of female Renaissance and Baroque artists. Two to three temporary exhibitions are held each year, often featuring more recent art. The museum sits in a large garden with old trees and rhododendrons, and runs a programme of lectures, concerts, guided tours and drawing classes.
