Street Theatre: Sound of Sewing
Rønhaveplads, Sønderborg, Sønderborg
Free entry. SOUND OF SEWING is an outdoor theatre-sewing workshop, part of Denmark's International Street Theatre Festival, which returns to Sønderborg with six performances in total. Here recycling, performance art and humour meet in the public space.
Since 2003, Karin Arts and Mariken Biegman-van Geel have toured the world with bicycles and antique sewing machines. The audience is an active part of the performance: everyone is welcome to bring old clothes, which are transformed on the spot into personal artworks - completely free. The two artists only need a pair of fresh legs to pedal, so the old machines can get going.
The performance connects to the UN's Sustainable Development Goal 12 on responsible consumption and production. No tickets - just show up.
