Stargate - A Christmas Story

Two sisters, Ronja and Melissa, live in a cramped Oslo apartment with their father. When he finds work as a Christmas tree seller, things briefly improve - but the joy doesn't last, and he soon returns to the bar Stargate. Stargate - A Christmas Story is a Christmas tale in the spirit of Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol and H.C. Andersen's The Little Match Girl: ten-year-old Ronja dreams of a cottage deep in the forest "with a fireplace and everything," while her older sister Melissa takes the family's fate into her own hands.

Ingvild H. Rishøi's novel was published in Danish in 2021 and was adapted into a film in 2025. At this film screening, literature presenters Sigurbjörg Elín Hólmarsdóttir and Line Kveiborg introduce the film's literary source material. You do not need to have read the book beforehand.
