History Club on Amager: The Mystery of Olga Eggers

Historian Sofie Lene Bak has written the biography "Defiance and Tragedy. A Biography of Olga Eggers" (2025), and at this event she presents her research on one of the occupation's most contradictory figures. Olga Eggers began her adult life as a committed women's rights advocate and peace activist - a woman who wrote with indignation about discrimination and persecution of Jews. Yet she ended up as editor of the extremely antisemitic magazine Kamptegnet and as a leading figure in the Danish Anti-Jewish League.

Sofie Lene Bak specializes in the history of antisemitism and attempts to answer the question of how this transformation was even possible.

The event takes place in Bryggekælderen at Islands Brygge Library. The History Club on Amager is run by Kvarterhuset, Islands Brygge Library and Sundby Library, but the events are open to everyone.
