Film: The Librarians

In the USA, the right to read freely has become a political battleground - and librarians have emerged as unexpected defenders of democracy and free speech ahead of a crucial midterm election.

The documentary 'The Librarians' (2025) will be screened followed by a debate on censorship and free speech in the USA. The film is introduced by Anette Thede, librarian and member of the free speech organization Dansk PEN - an international organization working for the free distribution of literature and the right to free expression. The library will then moderate a debate based on the film.

The event is part of Dansk PEN's campaign #ForbiddenBooks and takes place at MusikTeatret Albertslund.
