What is Light? - Ole Rømer's discovery: Thursday 29 October 2026, 19:00–21:00, Albertslund Bibliotek, Albertslund. Admission is free.

In 1676, Danish astronomer Ole Rømer discovered that light "delayed" - as he himself put it. Light has a velocity, and the discovery excited figures like Isaac Newton.

Astroophysicist Lars Occhionero from Kroppedal Museum tells this evening about the Renaissance man Rømer and about light as a phenomenon: what is light really, and who was the man behind the discovery that later became one of the country's most powerful?

About the venue: Albertslund Bibliotek

Albertslund Bibliotek has been the main public library in Albertslund since 1964, situated on Bibliotekstorvet in the town centre. Its collection covers books, e-books and audiobooks, and the library runs a regular programme of talks, reading clubs and cultural events.
