A musical journey through Sicily with soprano Maria Johannsen and pianist Emma A. Roesgaard.

Since the 1600s, the island has inspired composers such as Händel, Meyerbeer, Mascagni, Wagner and Verdi in their operas - all drawing material from Sicily's mythology and history. The programme also follows Goethe's travels through Sicily and the difficulties he encountered along the way. The centrepiece, however, is Vincenzo Bellini from Catania - Sicily's greatest contribution to classical music - a young, beautiful and romantic artistic genius who achieved world fame.

The evening concludes with Sicilian wine and snacks.

About the venue: Metronomen

Metronomen is Frederiksberg's self-run music venue, where artists and organisers book the space and handle their own concerts from start to finish. The building has stood beside Aksel Møllers Have since 1996, originally built as an exhibition hall during the European Capital of Culture year. It has two ground-floor rooms - a larger hall seating around 85 and a smaller domed room for about 30.
