A musical journey through Europe's sonic universe. Dornonville Soloists invites you to a concert where some of the 20th century's most fascinating works meet passion, virtuosity, and storytelling. The programme spans from Paul Hindemith's powerful and expressive Viola Sonata to Eugène Ysaÿe's virtuosic Violin Sonata No. 4, written as a tribute to the Belgian violin tradition. The audience is taken through the fiery energy of Constantin Silvestri's Bacchanale, Leoš Janáček's deeply personal and emotionally charged Violin Sonata, and Maurice Ravel's iconic Blues, where classical music meets the colours of jazz. The concert also features Ciprian Porumbescu's beloved Ballade - one of Romania's most poetic works - and Rued Langgaard's lively Scherzo from his third violin sonata. The evening concludes with Astor Piazzolla's world-renowned Libertango, where the rhythms of tango and classical music merge in an energetic finale. A concert filled with contrasts, strong emotions, and musical virtuosity, taking the audience on a journey through different cultures, traditions, and expressions - from Nordic melancholy and Central European modernism to Argentine tango.
