AKELA is a Danish string quartet formed at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in 2019. Its four members - violinists Clara Glasdam and Gustav Ranum, violist Kirsten Wilbrandt Kjær, and cellist Oskar Reuben Friis-Hansen - had played together since childhood. The quartet has won first prizes at the ENKOR and LFN International Chamber Music Competitions, received the Leonie Sonning Talent Prize in 2024, and released their debut album of Sune Kølster's string quartets the same year.
