Claus Waidtløw is a Danish saxophonist and composer, born in 1967, who trained at the Rhythmic Conservatorium in Copenhagen and studied modern composition with Bob Brookmeyer. He has been active on the Danish jazz scene since 1989 and is best known today as a tenor saxophonist, though he began on alto. His 2015 album Playhouse won a Danish Music Award, and he has appeared on more than 60 recordings alongside artists such as Christian McBride, Kurt Elling, Carla Bley and John Scofield. He also holds an associate professorship at the Danish National Academy of Music.
Waidtløw is nominated for Danish Music Award Jazz 2025 in the category Artist of the Year for his work on the album Summer Night with Copenhagen Jazzexperience.
