BACH WEEK #4 LUMBYE AKADEMIET
Copenhagen Phil's Lumbye Akademiet presents a string orchestra with soloist Otilia Zielke Johannsen performing Bach and other works.
Copenhagen Phil - formally the Zealand Symphony Orchestra - is a Danish professional symphony orchestra tracing its origins to 1843, when H.C. Lumbye took the podium at the newly opened Tivoli Gardens. With around 70 permanent musicians, it serves as the regional orchestra for Zealand and Lolland/Falster, and performs each summer in Tivoli as Tivoli Copenhagen Phil. The orchestra is recognised for pairing the classical canon with inventive formats such as '60 Minutes', 'Open Orchestra' and 'Melodrama', and founded the Lumbye Academy - Denmark's first professional orchestral academy.
Copenhagen Phil announced Melodrama #3 / SACRE: THE FIRST SACRIFICE - a new symphonic concert performance about the Israel/Palestine conflict, directed by Christian Lollike, with premiere in October 2026.
Copenhagen Phil announced a new '60 Minutes' concert with Danish singer Mona Moroni, scheduled for March 2027.
Chief conductor Christoph Gedschold left his position at Copenhagen Phil by mutual agreement, less than two years after he took office.
Copenhagen Phil performed '60 Minutes of Pil' - three evenings with symphonic versions of Danish singer Pil's songs.
Copenhagen Phil collaborated with Danish singer Pil on the '60 Minutes' concept, where rhythmic music meets the classical orchestra.
