About

Danmarks Underholdningsorkester (Danish Chamber Orchestra) is a musician-owned chamber orchestra of 42 players, founded by the Danish national broadcaster in 1939 and attached to DR until 2014. When DR disbanded the ensemble at the end of that year, the musicians themselves kept it alive through crowdfunding and private foundation support, relaunching it in 2015 as an independent orchestra. Under chief conductor Ádám Fischer, the orchestra has earned international recognition for its Mozart recordings, winning the International Classical Music Awards - Best Collection 2015 for its complete cycle of all 45 Mozart symphonies.
