Emmanuel Pahud, born in Geneva on 27 January 1970, has been principal flute of the Berliner Philharmoniker since 1992, appointed at age 22 by Claudio Abbado. Widely regarded as the leading flutist of his generation, he has built a discography of more than 50 recordings for EMI Classics and Warner Classics, ranging from Baroque to contemporary commissions. He co-founded the chamber music festival in Salon-de-Provence and has received the Victoire de la Musique, the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres, and the 2024 Léonie Sonning Music Prize.
Warner Classics released in January 2026 the album 'Trios' with Pahud, pianist Éric Le Sage and cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras.
Warner Classics released in September 2025 a 14-cd box set, 'Flute Concertos & Concertante Works', with Pahud's complete concerto recordings from 1996 to 2021.
Pahud began 2025 with a recital tour in the USA, including at Washington University's Great Artists Series on January 23 with pianist Alessio Bax.
Pahud received the Léonie Sonning Music Prize for 2024, one of the most prestigious classical music prizes in Denmark.
Pahud took up the position of soloist-in-residence with Orchestre Métropolitain de Montréal from the 2022-2023 season.
