Joe Pesci (born February 9, 1943, in Newark, New Jersey) is an Italian-American actor and musician best known for his collaborations with Martin Scorsese and Robert De Niro - above all as the volatile gangster Tommy DeVito in Goodfellas (1990), which won him the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He has received three Oscar nominations in total, including for Raging Bull (1980) and The Irishman (2019). Equally at home in comedy, he played bumbling burglar Harry in Home Alone (1990). Before his film career took off, he worked as a singer and guitarist in the New Jersey music scene.
Variety revealed that director Rebecca Miller failed to get Joe Pesci to participate in the Apple TV+ documentary series Mr. Scorsese about Martin Scorsese.
The drama film Day of the Fight, in which Pesci plays a father with dementia, had a limited theatrical release in the USA on November 15, 2024, after having its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival in 2023.
Joe Pesci returned to television for the first time in over 30 years when he played Pete Davidson's grandfather in the Peacock comedy series Bupkis, which premiered on May 4, 2023.
