Katrine Schmidt is a Danish singer-songwriter based in Aalborg, known for her deep, distinctive voice and acoustic arrangements rooted in folk, americana and jazz. She has been part of the Danish folk and roots scene since 2012, drawing on influences from country and soul. Her debut album Laying My Burdens Down earned her the Danish Music Awards 'Ud Af Det Blå' prize in 2023, and her follow-up Wearing My Heart on My Sleeve was released in February 2026 to five-star reviews in GAFFA.
The second album Wearing My Heart on My Sleeve was released on February 13, 2026 and received five stars from GAFFA with the quote: "The 'difficult second album' is not a thing when you sing the way she does."
Reviewer Ivan Rod praised the album for Katrine's "more pronounced calm and weight" and highlighted that she appears more insightful than many of her peers.
The album was recorded live in the studio with a band consisting of Mark Kühn, Aske Stubkjær, Søren Schack, Mikkel Grue and Thyge Van Dassen on violin.
Katrine Schmidt toured the country in spring 2026 with venues such as Musikhuset Aarhus, Godset in Kolding and Paletten in Viborg on the program.
The single "Crooked Little Heart" was released in 2025 as a preview of the upcoming album.
