Kim Larsen (1945-2018) was a Danish singer, guitarist and songwriter, widely regarded as Denmark's national bard. He co-founded the rock group Gasolin' in 1969 and led it until its break-up in 1978, then built a long solo career backed by bands including Kim Larsen og Kjukken. His 1983 album 'Midt om natten' remains the best-selling Danish album of all time, and his songs - ranging from rock to folk ballad - have resonated across generations.
