Køs & Forfatterspirerne | Open Listening #4 & Jazz Listening Club
The electroacoustic jazz trio Køs performs live alongside young writers from Roskilde Gymnasium reading their own texts in this season finale for the library's listening programmes.
Køs is an experimental electro-acoustic jazz trio from Copenhagen, made up of Maria Dybbroe (saxophone, clarinet, vocals), Valdemar Kragelund (electronics, keyboards) and Kristian Isholm Saarup (drums). Active since 2014, the trio built its reputation on the Copenhagen free-improvisation scene, blending manipulated saxophone textures with live electronics and percussion. They are best known internationally for their collaboration with poet Pia Tafdrup on the album Ud af en Mund (2021). Their fourth album, Worldsorrow, was released in June 2025 on Sonic Transmissions Records.
Køs released their fourth album Worldsorrow on June 13, 2025 on Sonic Transmissions Records - recorded in isolation on the island of Ærø during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The album Ud af en Mund with poet Pia Tafdrup was released on September 25, 2021 on Barefoot Records and marked an interdisciplinary collaboration that had started in 2018.
Kristian Isholm Saarup was nominated for Album of the Year at Danish Music Awards 2020.
Køs performed with Pia Tafdrup at Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2019 in Brorsons Kirke - the premiere of their stage collaboration.
