Kosmos Trio is a Danish piano trio led by composer and pianist Frede Holger Thorsen, with Martin Brunbjerg on double bass and Jesper Lørup on drums. They play original modern jazz in a spare, Nordic sound world where silence and space carry as much weight as melody. Their 2022 debut album "Brev til en ven" (April Records) drew praise from Politiken and international outlets including Jazz Journal UK; the following year they won JazzDanmark's jazz competition and received a DMA Jazz nomination for New Jazz Name of the Year. Their second album, "...and the Sun", is released in August 2026.
Kosmos Trio releases their second album "...and the Sun" on August 21, 2026 - recorded live at The Village Recording, Denmark, in March 2025.
The trio performs at Aarhus Jazz Festival 2026 as part of the Musikhuset Swinger program.
Kosmos Trio plays at Musikhuset Dexter in Odense on August 28, 2026.
The trio won JazzDanmark's jazz competition 2023 and was nominated as the year's new jazz name at DMA Jazz.
The debut album "Brev til en ven" was released on October 14, 2022 on April Records and received coverage in, among others, Jazz Journal UK and P8-jazz.
