Lumbye Akademiet

About

Lumbye Akademiet is Denmark's first professional orchestra academy and the only privately funded one in Scandinavia. Founded by Copenhagen Phil in October 2022 and modelled on the German Orchesterakademie tradition, it offers a two-year postgraduate programme combining orchestral practice, one-to-one mentoring, mental coaching and masterclasses with international musicians. Its goal is to raise the overall standard of Danish symphony orchestras by bridging the gap between conservatoire training and professional orchestral life. The academy takes its name from H.C. Lumbye, Copenhagen Phil's first music director.
