Mathias Kjøller and Bjarke Mogensen

Mathias Kjøller (born 1985) has been principal clarinetist of the Aarhus Symphony Orchestra since 2007, a position he secured after just three years of study at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus. He went on to study with Lee Morgan in Copenhagen and Yehuda Gilad in Los Angeles, and in 2013 took second prize at the International Carl Nielsen Clarinet Competition. He also teaches at the Royal Academy of Music in Aarhus and performs regularly as a chamber musician at festivals across Europe.
Mathias Kjøller performed Carl Nielsen's clarinet concerto with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and conductor Dmitry Matvienko at Musikhuset Aarhus on August 15, 2026 and at Tivoli Concert Hall in Copenhagen on August 16, 2026.
Aarhus Symphony Orchestra and Kjøller performed Carl Nielsen's clarinet concerto at Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, and the concert was broadcast on DR P2.
Kjøller premiered the clarinet concerto Castor Pollux by Pelle Gudmundsen-Holmgreen - the composer's very last work, written for him - with Aarhus Symphony Orchestra on March 6, 2025.
