Roskilde Cathedral Boys' Choir and Baroque Ensemble perform Handel's classical oratorio 'Messiah' under conductor Egil Kolind.
Roskilde Domkirkes Drengekor (Roskilde Cathedral Boys' Choir) was founded in 1987 and has grown into Denmark's largest boys' choir, with close to 70 singers led by conductor Egil Kolind. The choir performs at services in Roskilde Cathedral and gives around 35 concerts a year, ranging from in-house performances to international tours across the USA, China, New Zealand and, most recently, Italy. Its repertoire covers early Renaissance polyphony through to contemporary church music, and the choir has sung at royal events in the cathedral as well as on the stage of the Royal Danish Theatre.
The choir went on an international tour to Italy during the autumn break 2024 with a program consisting of early Italian Renaissance music, Catholic church music and Danish songs.
On Friday, October 4, 2024, the choir held a departure concert in Roskilde Cathedral before the trip to Italy.
Conductor Egil Kolind told in September 2024 that the choir plans tours approximately every other year, and that the summer tour 2022 went to Prague and Kutná Hora in the Czech Republic.
The choir's annual performance of Handel's 'Messiah' in Roskilde Cathedral was sold out, with Roskilde Cathedral's Baroque Ensemble and conductor Egil Kolind.
