About

The Ocean (also known as The Ocean Collective) is a German post-metal collective founded in Berlin in 2001 by guitarist and composer Robin Staps. The band is known for ambitious concept albums built around geological eons, ocean depths and the history of philosophy - including critically acclaimed records such as "Pelagial" (2013) and the two-part Phanerozoic series (2018-2020). Operating as a fluid collective with a frequently changing roster, they return in 2026 with a rebuilt lineup and new album "Solaris".
