Jonah Blacksmith
The seven-piece ensemble Jonah Blacksmith from Thy presents their acclaimed film concert in arena format, where live music meets a documentary about people, dreams, and community.
Thomas Alstrup is the bassist and backing vocalist of the Danish folk-pop-rock band Jonah Blacksmith, which he co-founded with his younger brother Simon Alstrup in Thy, northwest Jutland. The band takes its name from the brothers' grandfather, blacksmith Johannes "Jonah" Alstrup from Koldby, and has grown from village halls to sold-out arena shows at Royal Arena and Jyske Bank Boxen. Hits such as "House on Fire" and "Up" turned them into one of Denmark's most-played radio acts, and their fourth album, "Ages", was released in October 2025.
Jonah Blacksmith released their fourth studio album "Ages" on Warner Music on October 17, 2025, the band's first album in five years.
The band followed up the album with a sold-out tour in October-November 2025 to smaller venues across the country, including Thisted, Aarhus and Store Vega in Copenhagen.
The single "Up" and the band's participation in the TV show Toppen af Poppen gave them major attention in 2024, with the song becoming the third most played on Danish radio that year.
In spring 2025, the band played two additional sold-out live film concerts at Jyske Bank Boxen in Herning and Royal Arena in Copenhagen.
The band has announced a new Film Concert Arena Tour in January-February 2027 to ten major arenas across the country, including ACC in Aarhus and K.B. Hallen in Copenhagen.
