Thomas Helmig is a Danish singer, songwriter and producer, born on 15 October 1964 in Egå near Aarhus. He broke through with the album Vejen Væk (1988) and has remained one of Denmark's most enduring live acts for four decades, drawing on soul and Motown as much as Danish pop. His 17th studio album, Sortedam (2024), written in the months following the death of his son Hugo Helmig, debuted at number one on the Danish album chart.
