About

VÆB (pronounced 'vibe') are an Icelandic electronic duo from Kópavogur, consisting of brothers Hálfdán Helgi Matthíasson (born 2003) and Matthías Davíð Matthíasson (born 2004). They grew up in a musical household - their father is an organist and saxophone teacher, their mother a singer and singing teacher - and have made music together since childhood. After debuting with the album Væb tékk in 2022, they won Iceland's Söngvakeppnin in February 2025 with "Róa" and went on to represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel.

    VÆB performed in Vienna (Prater DOME) in May 2026 as part of their European tour.

    Iceland's national broadcaster RÚV confirmed in December 2025 that Iceland will not participate in Eurovision 2026, and that Söngvakeppnin will therefore not be held that year.

    VÆB finished in 25th place in the Eurovision 2025 final in Basel with 33 points from the televote, after qualifying from the semi-final with 97 points as number six.

    VÆB won Söngvakeppnin 2025 with the song "Róa" and thus secured the right to represent Iceland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 in Basel.

    "Róa" was released on January 17, 2025 via Alda Music and reached first place on the Icelandic charts, where it remained for six weeks.
