Vespro della Beata Vergine (1610) is Claudio Monteverdi's large-scale sacred work for choir, soloists and orchestra - a collection of psalms, hymns and motets in honour of the Virgin Mary. It bridges Renaissance polyphony and the expressive new baroque style, and stands as one of the most significant sacred works of the 17th century.
