Viktor Axelsen, born 4 January 1994 in Odense, is one of the most decorated men's singles players in badminton history. He won Olympic gold at Tokyo 2020 and Paris 2024, claimed two World Championship titles (2017 and 2022), and held the world No. 1 ranking for a combined 183 weeks. On 15 April 2026 he announced his retirement, citing persistent back problems following surgery in April 2025.
