Hindsgavl Slot stands on the Hindsgavl peninsula west of Middelfart, overlooking the Little Belt. A royal fortress controlled the strait here from the 13th century; the present classicist manor was built in 1784 to designs by Hans Næss. Today it operates as a hotel and conference centre, with the old stables and farm buildings converted into rooms and meeting facilities. H.C. Andersen once visited and declared the view the finest on Funen, and every July the grounds host the Hindsgavl Festival.
